As part of the education programme during the Fair, and as an extension of the established Hilton Arts Festival’s dedicated Jongosi Youth Programme, The KZN Art Fair is hosting the first Jongosi Visual Arts programme for schools. The name Jongosi is an isiZulu word for someone who is young, strong, determined and full of potential, and embodies the spirit of the programme - a vibrant, immersive arts experience designed to ignite curiosity, creativity and confidence in young minds.

Creative Futures is a contemporary art learning programme introducing secondary school and tertiary learners to the diverse opportunities, practices and careers within the visual arts and creative industries. Structured around three pillars — 

Looking & Listening, Making, and Imagining Futures — the programme combines dual-curator exhibition walkabouts, hands-on studio workshops and a panel conversation with arts professionals. Looking & Listening | curator-led exhibition walkabouts exploring how exhibitions are curated and interpreted 

Making | studio workshops, including Tetra Pak Printmaking and Paper Clay Sculpture (Tertiary/Grades 11–12) and Charcoal Drawing (Grade 10 and younger) 

Imagining Futures | Creative Pathways: a conversation with artist, Mmangaliso Nzuza and art collector and acquisitions consultant, Kyle Hutchings on careers across the creative ecosystem 

The programme is open to high school learners and tertiary students, and costs R470 for all three activities. Email julia@hiltonfestival.co.za to book. 

Bookings are also open to the public for the three kinds of making sessions at R150 each.
