JONGOSI VISUAL ARTS AT THE KZN ART FAIR

Friday 7 August 2026

As part of the education programme during the Fair, and as an extension of the established Hilton Arts Festival’s dedicated JongosiYouth Programme, The KZN Art Fair is hosting the first Jongosi Visual Arts programme for schools. The name Jongosi is an isiZulu word for someone who is young, strong, determined and full of potential, and embodies the spirit of the programme - a vibrant, immersive arts experience designed to ignite curiosity, creativity and confidence in young minds.

Taking place on the opening day of the festival, Friday 7 August, Jongosi welcomes over 2,000 learners from across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, offering them a rare opportunity to engage with world-class theatre, music, performance and now visual art in a professional festival environment. For many of these learners, Jongosi is more than just a day out, it is their first encounter with live performing and visual arts.

The theme for the 2026 Jongosi Visual Arts programme is, Your art career starts at school.
